Hamilton-based folkie Smith has toiled on the fringes
of Canadian music for 20 years as a performer, writer and soundtrack
composer. This enjoyable CD, his first, could be the ticket to mainstream
success. Mainstream is the key word here. Smith writes melodic,
pop-flavoured folk ballads and delivers them in a honey-coated tenor
reminiscent of John Denver, Steve Goodman and Harry Chapin. Fans of people
such as Mary Chapin Carpenter and The Rankins will find much to enjoy
here, especially in standout cuts such as You And Me and Woody's
Lament.

Poets and Painters breathes new musical life into
the early millennium. The path of folk has just been illuminated! It is a
journey through life for the price of a CD!
Paul Mills – Borealis Records
…a wonderful singer and songwriter and both are
reflected nicely on this record.
James Gordon – Singer / Songwriter
…it's great, great songs, great production …good
package.
I especially like a writer who can write a good waltz--- you’ve got some
terrific ones…
Ron Nigrini – Singer / Songwriter
…'Poets and Painters' has a fine lyric and you have
a wonderful flair for story in your writing.
Harvey Andrews – Singer / Songwriter, U.K.
Wendy, son Scott and I sat down to listen to it over
the weekend (I don’t normally do this) and I'm breaking the habit of a
lifetime to tell you we thoroughly enjoyed it. Who’s the “Chorus
King”!!?? Every hook, a
winner. It’s a fine album…
