Biography...

Scott Cameron Smith rose out of relative obscurity to become widely known in the Canadian folk music scene in a short space of time. His CD Poets and Painters, released in January, 2001 has garnered attention as one of the most beautifully produced Folk albums of the year.
Press and peers have compared him to the likes of Harry Chapin, Steve Goodman, John Denver and the Rankin Family all rolled into one great musical experience.

Having over twenty years experience in the music industry as a performer, he has toured in both group and solo acts throughout Ontario and Quebec. The recent release of his CD has taken his music coast to coast and into the United States. With experience in pop, country, folk and blues, his songwriting is as diverse as music itself, with smooth harmonies, an acoustic backbone and unique styling. Fans have commented that they like the diversity of Scott’s music ~ each song is fresh and new to the ear.

During the 80’s Scott focused on recording and writing. His song, Christmas Traveller was recorded by the Irish Rovers and Wayne Rostadt, and other artists both local and abroad are now performing his songs.

Scott wrote and performed on the movie sound track of From Wings Came Flight for Norm Kent Productions in Los Angeles California in 1989. The film was shown at conferences internationally and made television airplay in numerous countries.

This past October 2001, he and David Bradstreet co-produced Tears of a Thousand Years, a compilation CD of Canadian Folk Artists to assist with relief funds after the September 11th tragedy in the USA. His song, If it’s A Long Way Home was chosen as one of the tracks. He has appeared at local folk clubs, community events and music festivals from the 80’s to the present and has shared the stage with such folk music notables as Valdy, David Bradstreet, Brent Titcomb, Lenny Gallant, John Gracie, Mose Scarlett, Jackie Washington, Eileen McGann, Tanglefoot, and a myriad of international artists.

Scott is touring again full-time with Ariel Rogers and David Rogers who form the core of his vocal and acoustic group. Audiences have been captivated by the outstanding harmonies of this trio. This past summer he had a very successful tour of East Coast Canada. Most recently he was featured as one of the official showcases at the North East Folk Alliance Conference in Pennsylvania. His breakthrough into U.S. markets is imminent.
