For Stan-fans, Paul Mills is known as one of Stan's closest friends, who also shared the stage with his guitar stylings and produced most of the albums.
Today, Paul continues his tireless support of Canadian folk/roots music, as well as the work of those across the Canadian border and overseas. He helped establish Borealis Records and currently maintains his own music production company, The Millstream.
Paul grew up during the rise of folk music into popular culture back in the 1960's, and in time established himself as one of the finest pickers on the southern Ontario circuit, taking the stage with other musicians we would come to know, including Willie P. Bennett, David Essig, Doug MacArthur, and Stan Rogers. He later turned to producing, working for the CBC for 24 years.
Paul released a solo CD. And it's about time.
It's called The Other Side of the Glass and it features a fifty-fifty mix of finger-style guitar instrumentals and songs (most of which were written by Paul). Among them is an absolutely wonderful performance of Stan's enduring piece, 'Forty-Five Years'.
