Guitarist ~ Composer/Arranger ~ Vocalist

Dave wants the world to know that The Chase, his first CD, has just been released on the Fogarty's Cove Music label. Produced by Paul Mills at Millstream Recording Studio in Toronto and mastered at Music Lane in Richmond Hills, the CD offers nine original compositions, and arrangements of three other pieces - one a traditional ragtime tune, the other two being vocal and instrumental arrangements of other artists' work.

Dave Rogers has been playing guitar for 17 years now in the jazz and classical genres, but he is predominantly an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist. He writes mainly in this medium. Having learned the basic first chords from his stepfather, Stan Rogers, David went on, after Stan's untimely death, to pursue his own path in music. Starting with the formation of his own rock band, Foundation, in high school, Dave soon found himself learning a broad cross-section of musical forms. Although he played trombone in the school's jazz orchestra, he soon realised that the guitar was his first love.

After high school he went on to study musical theory and composition at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. One of his major influences in guitar has been Canadian virtuoso, Don Ross, with whom David studied during his university years and since. Dave has played in venues ranging from Hamilton Place and the Ford Centre for the Performing Arts, to numerous Art Galleries, clubs and pubs in Hamilton and the greater Toronto area.

Dave recently finished a very successful 3 week tour of the Maritime provinces with singer/songwriter Scott Cameron Smith. He will continue touring with Scott and will also be playing solo gigs from time to time.
